A small side project

They say that everyone has that one novel inside them, and it just takes the motivation to put the time and effort into doing it. Well, I have always had the inclination to do one, a sort of semi-autobiographical one. As I have been through a lot in my lifetime some highs and some lows, some great times and sometimes I wish I could forget.

So I have decided to put pen to paper and write it, if it does not get published then I won’t care as I find writing therapeutic. I started on it last night and in two hours got 4,500 words down which I was rather impressed with. It is going to be a journey of self-discovery for the main person starting with her getting diagnosed as having bipolar and then I will intertwine the self-discovery with some parts of life that I have dealt with.

It’s probably going to be a challenge to write it as when I deal with the dark depressive side of it, I don’t want the reader to feel depressed reading it. So I will have to figure out a way to make the deep lows, not too dark, maybe include a bit of dark humour into it, as I find in real life when my mood gets low some dark humour helps me cope with it.

I haven’t yet decided which bits of my own personal life to include in it yet or how accurate to have them, because some are deeply personal but to get across how it happened the personal detail is needed to make the narrative flow…
