A trip through my anorexic relapses

TW: talk about eating disorders and their behaviours, this is in no way any tips for people to try and copy

I have been through all sorts of relapses in my past, so I thought I would document them to show how bad I was at weight loss. For me the most common one, and probably for most anorexics is calorie restriction. It’s basically what it says it is, you limit how much you eat it will vary from person to person but when I did it I went as low as 500 a day, split between three times when I ate.

It’s the hardest to hide from people especially if they are around at meal times as then it becomes obvious to people how little you are actually consuming. When I was younger and still at school I would skip breakfast and lunch as no one was monitoring those meals and then sit down for the evening meal with my parents and they wouldn’t be suspicious then because you are eating what they are giving you, even though you are restricting too.

When I was older and living away from my parents I would add in a bit of purging to help with the restriction, so I would eat then make myself throw up. Not a pleasant thing to do, but it would allow you to eat certain things that you normally wouldn’t consider eating, because you knew it was coming back up.
