This is a bit of a social taboo, not something that people talk about openly which is something we should address, especially considering how many young men die each year as the result of suicide. Talking about it is something we don’t do, I have attempted it twice in a serious manner and I was made to talk about it and why it happened and so on. Both times I ended up in the hospital and had to convince a psychiatrist that I was ok to let go home.

So there was a lot of explaining how it got there and why I did it and what I should have done instead. In both attempts, I was having a mixed bipolar episode feeling both suicidal and not scared of risk or consequences a dangerous combination that resulted in both suicide attempts. Having been there twice and made it out alive both times, the second time shocking medical staff as to how I did. I am not ashamed to talk about it.

Not talking about it generally in society and it being one of those subjects that makes people feel uncomfortable talking about is one reason we have an issue with the people who die each year because of it. If we spoke about it and what to do if you were considering it then maybe more people would know where to go to ask for help before it is too late.
